Ricky Dean

Osteopath

Ricky Dean (M.Ost.) graduated from the British College of Osteopathic Medicine (BCOM) in 2011.
Ricky has recently joined the Physio Medicine team based at the London City Clinic to practice the art of osteopathy and is fully registered with the General Osteopathic Council (GOsC).

Ricky has seen a variety of NHS referred patients since 2009 while training to be an osteopath. Ricky has been qualified in massage since 2006 and has seen clients privately since then.

Ricky takes a holistic approach to patient health care, covering all aspects from assessing body mechanics (joint mobility, muscle length and tension, joint biomechanics and functionality of the body). He also gives nutritional advice as needed.

He specialises in diagnosing and treating musculoskeletal conditions such as spinal conditions, joint and muscle complaints, which can cause restrictions and distortions of body function.

Ricky uses a combination of medical case history taking, orthopaedic testing, palpation (soft tissue hands on assessment), active and passive resisted muscular testing and neurological assessment to identify dysfunctional areas of the body.

Ricky then aims to restore correct function to joints and surrounding tissues, using soft and deep tissue massage, myofascial release, strain and counterstrain muscular tension release, joint mobilisation and joint cavitation (positional adjustment of joints with varying force).

Ricky takes a specialist osteopathic approach to promoting tissue healing and educates patients in aiding them to a quick restoration to health.
Ricky’s well trained osteopathic hands can also treat a wide variety of conditions from acute injury to chronic and long-term pain. Osteopathy can benefit everyone from athletes, or those of us who tend to play sports often, to the elderly or the very young.
