Acupuncture
For pain relief, muscle and joint stiffness, acute and chronic injuries
- Headache/Migraine
- Whiplash injury
- Neck pain
- Back pain
- Joint pain (arthritis in the knee)
- Shoulder pain
- Tennis elbow
- Inflammation
- Myofascial pain syndrome
- Fibromyalgia
- Muscle pain (stress- related - to reduce muscle tension in the neck etc)
- Muscle spasm (muscle stiffness, calf cramp, spasm in the low back)
Acupuncture has a pain relieving effect by encouraging the production of the body's natural painkillers (such as serotonin, dopamine, and endorphins)
When an acupuncture needle is inserted, sensory nerve fibre are stimulated in different tissues and messages are sent to the spinal cord and the brain, encouraging chemical reactions and pain inhibitions. The result will be decreased pain, muscle spasm and inflammation.
Poor posture, repetitive movements or the response to stress can cause muscle strain. The overused muscle then suffers wear and tear causing inflammation, referred pain to other areas, headache, migraine, weakness, relaxation problems and muscle imbalance. This type of problem most frequently occurs in the Trapezius muscle in the shoulder. The pain will be chronic after a few episodes. This is a commonly overlooked problem of the muscles. Acupuncture dry needling will eliminate the painful taut band, restore normal movements of the muscles, joints and restore muscle strength.

SOFT TISSUE TECHNIQUES
Trigger Point Release, Soft tissue release, Myofascial Release
These techniques (mentioned on the top of the page) significantly help to increase mobility of the soft tissues (muscles, fascia, tendon, and ligament) decrease pain, inflammation, relax tight muscles or fascia caused by stress, overuse and increases the blood circulation, collagen turnover in the injured area. Certain techniques stimulate the weak muscles and help to restore normal muscle contraction and muscle balance.
Muscles support our joints and influence their work. If the muscles are tight, they may alter the forces applied on the joint surfaces possibly exacerbating wear and tear (osteoarthritis) of the joints in the spine (neck and back) and the periphery (such as hip, knee).
Many injuries are due to minor soft tissue dysfunctions.
Muscle imbalance can be developed with or without an injury and can be treated with the right technique. Muscle imbalance can change our posture.
Tight muscles reduce the range of movement of the joints in certain directions and the body needs to compensate in other areas to carry out the normal daily activities.
Myofascial pain is referred from trigger points in specific patterns from the muscles individual to each muscle.
We use Trigger Point Release or Myofascial Dry Needling technique to solve these types of problems. Compression of the trigger points with active movements of the involved muscle will ease the pain and the muscle tightness.
